The Ottawa Chapter is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. We have
grown from a membership of 6 founding members in 1989 to over 60 this year.
There are 18 members holding Instructor level or above certificates and
8 of them are active as teachers giving classes at local Community Centres
and night school classes with the local School Boards’ continuing education
programs, plus private lessons. These classes offer both leisure style
lessons and lessons leading toward certification. As well, a program is
offered for children in partnership with a local community centre for children
8 to 12, on the first Saturday of the month.
Once a year we hold an annual exhibition of members work at the Japanese
Embassy and offer workshops and demonstrations for members and the general
public 2-3 times a year, plus do demonstrations and workshops at the request
of Community groups, organizations and the local Community College programs.
Our Annual General Meeting is held in April of each year. |
